Maybe it'll look dated in two years...but for now, we're a little obsessed.
Built in the ’60s and renovated never, my grandparents’ home featured a rainbow of bathrooms. The powder room off of the kitchen was resplendent in robins egg blue, from the toilet to the sink to the (ugggh) carpet; upstairs, the crown jewel of the guest bathroom was a pastel yellow tub. In the master ensuite, you’d find a wash of purple porcelain.
So maybe there’s a touch of nostalgia in my enthusiasm for this pretty-in-pink bathroom designed by 2LG Studio, but done right, a “Millennial Pink” hue moves past vintage kitsch and into Instagram-modern territory. Yes, this is from a London design firm, but how good would this look in a restored Calgary bungalow or in a Vancouver craftsman-house reno? It’s a look with international appeal.
The trick to keep this look fresh? Pair soft hues with crisp contrasting whites, like the Victoria and Albert Amiata tub. Of course, if pink tiles (these ones are from Tile Giant) and countertops are too much of a commitment for your liking (perhaps, unlike my grandparents, you’re hesitant to embrace the same style for 40 years running), accessorizing with blush-coloured paint and towels works well, too.
