1. White Christmas

Interior designer Janie Hungerford uses gold ornaments as an accent piece on an otherwise neutral tree. Because the area rug in the living room is red, Hungerford didn’t want to overdo it by adding more red (or green); the combination of white and gold make for an eye-catching piece that screams “winter wonderland.”

Calgary blogger and interior decorator Neelam Gurm went outside the box and opted for a lighter and simpler birch tree, rather than the traditional fir or spruce. 3. Natural Beauty

Surrey homeowners Wayne McGill and Chad Farquharson (and their son, Grayson) celebrate the holidays with more than one Christmas tree. Nature and simplicity are the focal points in Ami McKay‘s mid-century Christmas cottage, where homemade pompoms adorn a pared-down Christmas tree. Even with minimal decorations, the tree acts as a centrepiece in the room thanks to natural lighting from the panelled windows.
