Barbecue champion Angie Quaale shares her recipe for chunky bacon jam.
Angie Quaale of Well Seasoned, a gourmet food store in the Fraser Valley, has created a chunky bacon jam recipe that’s perfect for meat lovers. It’s sweet and savoury, incorporating that smoky flavour that bacon dishes are known for, and extremely versatile. “It seemed to me a few years ago that it was bacon everything,” says Quaale, on creating the recipe. “So bacon jam seemed like a great way to incorporate bacon into dishes that normally wouldn’t.”It’s quick and easy to make—get Quaale’s chunky bacon jam recipe here—and you can change up the recipe to suit your own taste (try adding some hot sauce for extra spice). You can also freeze batches of jam, and pull them out whenever you need your bacon fix.Goes Best With: Quaale suggests adding it to a grilled cheese sandwich or a burger, mixing it in with ketchup or mayo to spice up regular condiments, or serving it as part of a cheese board. “Anywhere you would use a sauce or a relish, you can incorporate your bacon jam,” she says.
