These dream kitchens are sure to inspire.
Design trends may come and go, but white remains a timeless staple that works in almost every space. From minimalist and modern to classic and traditional, here are eight kitchens that prove white is anything but dull. (Photo Credit: Barry Calhoun)
This top-of-the-line chef’s kitchen, designed by Nicole Mah of Kelly Deck Design and Alex Glegg, is both practical and meticulous. The integrated storage helps keep the space organized, while the hand-scraped white oak flooring embraces character and durability. With its quartz countertops and intricate millwork details, this kitchen embraces a sense of openness and style. See more of this airy renovation. (Photo Credit: Phil Crozier)
For this Calgary-meets-California home, interior designer Paul Lavoie knew he had to take advantage of its spectacular views. That’s why the focal point of this kitchen are the floor-to-ceiling windows, framed perfectly by metallic accents. Lavoie and his team created a space that is both stylish and comfortable, from the unique pendant fixtures above the marble island to the neutral colour palette. See more of this dream kitchen. The key to this Mount Pleasant condo’s kitchen, designed by Kelly Deck, is functionality and space. The seven-foot island is complemented by the chic cabinets and countertop. A custom JMV Woodworks bench is topped with cushions from Provide, making this modern kitchen warm, welcoming and a great space-saver. See more of this handsome reno. (Photo Credit: Janis Nicolay)
This West Coast kitchen is the vision of One Seed Architecture + Interiors’ Allison Holden-Pope. For this space, respecting the original architecture was crucial to the design process. The blue tint on the cabinetry creates a sense of layering in an otherwise-neutral space, while the island’s mitred edges cleverly resemble marble. The result is a modern kitchen with just the right blend of past and present. See more of this contemporary kitchen. (Photo Credit: Barry Calhoun)
Kelly Deck Design‘s Nicole Mah combines cool and sturdy white-lacquered cabinetry with chic stainless-steel appliances in this modern kitchen, but the main feature is the durability. The warm white cabinets and bulletproof quartz counters are hard-wearing, while the hand-scraped texture on the flooring helps hide any imperfections. At this Vancouver residence designed by Studio Finlay, the challenge was working with the existing floor plan. The original space was small and had an island that just wasn’t working, so Andrea Finlay used a special design trick: bringing the marble counter down in bands on the side of the island, rather than have a full waterfall effect. In this West Vancouver home (designed by McLeod Bovell Modern Houses), minimalist pendant lights overlook a neutral kitchen, opening up the space to plenty of natural light. The black-and-white palette helps to compliment the home’s overall moody theme. See more of this stylish kitchen. (Photo Credit: Ema Peters)
Designer Javier Campos of Campos Studio transformed this Point Grey kitchen into a luxe retreat. White Caesarstone countertops help keep things light and airy, embracing a calming feeling. The unique part of this space is the whitewashed fir, lightened using a process called “blonding”. See more of this light-filled space.
